We are thrilled to get the 2010 Autumn Winter Nigel Cabourn Collection in. It is some of the best stuff we have seen in years. Based on the Edmund Hillary Everest Expedition of 1953
Nigel Cabourn actually owns the original Edmund Hillary coat used in the successful attempt on the Everest summit. This parka – his most iconic piece is a replica of that coat using only the best materials. It is filled with duck down, the outer fabric is ventile (a type of densely woven cotton, developed in the 1930′s for military use, it is very light, very durable and breathable, whilst being warm), the hood is coyote trim, sheepskin lined and all the buttons are hand made form wood.
This next jacket is called the Cameraman. It is based on the jacket of the photographer who accompanied Edmund Hillary on Everest. The top half of the jacket is authentic Mackintosh from the famous Scottish outerwear company. The bottom half of the jacket is authentic Harris tweed. Buckles are remakes of WW11 clasps and the buttons are hand made from wood.
Another epic piece we love. The DB Peak from the mainline. Boiled wool, ship captain’s peacoat. View these and more at www.studio8shop.com
